Meet the Characters of "Still Don"The tour goes through picturesque landscapes of the Upper Don with unique Cossack history and peculiar local colouring. These places are connected with Sholokhov's life and creative work and his characters. All this makes our tour extremely attractive to lots of tourists. The rout is absolutely safe if all safety rules are followed. 1st day. Stay at Veshenskaya, forming of groups, getting food stuff, lifebelts, outfit and equipment. Visiting the stanitsa, the museum and local sights (The writer's country estate and his grave, Sholokhov house in Sholokhov street 103, literary excursion, the church, Veshenskiyi sanatorium). 2nd day. Starting the route from the river station in Veshenskaya. First stop at the stone erected in 1975 on the proposed place of Vyoshki town between Rossohovo Lake and Don. The museum is able to restore this town. A horse ride to Ostog River and Ostrovnoe Lake is possible from this place. Traditional Don fish soup is served for lunch. The speech about Sholokhov gets mixed with "Still Don" passages. The next stop is by former rebels' location in Tatarskyi village. Don Cossacks' mode of life and traditions, images of "Still Don" seem alive for tourists. The folklore group with its songs and active participation in the camp's life helps in creating this special feeling. 3d day. Crossing of the river to Kalininski village to visit the Melekhovs' and Astahovs' estates. Tourists hand in the luggage, leave for Veshenskaya, on their way they visit an observing point of the right bank. The monument to H.V.Melekhov (architect I.A.Kaleganov) - Grigory's prototype will liven up the speech and a beautiful view.
