The Museum and Youth
The department of museum's pedagogics of the State Reserve-Museum of Sholokhov in cooperation with institutions of supplementary schooling, voluntary organizations works on the "The Sholokhov Museum to the young generation" program.
Study of the writer's life and creative work, history of the Don region, spiritual life of Cossacks lies in the basis of the program. The modern level of Sholokhov, museum study and ethnic cultural material is taken into account.
The museum cooperates with kindergartens, elementary school (that is children of 4 to 10) of Veshenskaya. The students of the M. Platov School in Veshenskaya have a special course of Sholokhov study, provided by the "Museum-School" program.
The "Museum-Teachers training college" program is also forward-looking. The students of the philology department practice in organizing extra-curricular work with children on the museum's basis. The students study museum pedagogics, methods of giving museum lectures, acquire new skills of work in the funds and as a guide.
For many years students from Moscow, Kiev, Donetsk, Veshenskaya take an active part in joint concerts, meetings, exhibitions dedicated to the author's birthdays and in other projects.
Cooperative programs include meetings, briefings, round tables, conferences, contests, working out radio and TV programs, special needs children's participation in arranging the children's museum, rehabilitation meetings, opening of exhibitions of creative works in Russia and abroad.
Since 2002 the action "Me-to Sholokhov" is held in the museum. During this action children meet the people, who knew the writer. The stanitsa's inhabitants make speeches about Sholokhov, contribute interesting materials connected with him into the museum's funds.
In 2002 on the museum's initiative in the frameworks of the "Sholokhov's Spring" the children's holiday started. Today the little "Sholokhov's Spring" has expanded its boundaries, children from Moscow, Kiev, Donetsk, Pyatigorsk, Shachti, Kazakhstan participate in it.
