The Parish School

The Parish School where M.Sholokhov studied was preserved in Karginskaya. In the memorial class one sees a desk with three seats where he used to sit. Pupils of the first class are always told about the telegramme which the locals received in 1960: "On arrival to the native land I'm happy to inform the countrymen that the building of a new school by the decision of the Ministry Council of RSFR in Karginskaya will be started this year. I give my whole Lenin award to the building of a new school instead of the one where I studied. Best regards to all the residents of Karginskaya. Yours - Mikhail Sholokhov".

The stanitsa grew and changed. One can see a new red-brick school with big well equipped classrooms in the centre of  Karginskaya.
