SPEECH OF WELCOME
We are happy to welcome you in State Sholokhov Reserve-museum in Veshenskaya -
ancient Don Cossack village. Don Cossack villages are called stanitsas. Veshenskaya stanitsa is located in the heart of the Don River. Mikhail Alexandrovich's creative work and our great river - the Quiet Don - are in the centre of attention in our museum-reserve. That's why in our Reserve-museum, which covers the territory of 40000 hectares, we pay great attention to this river.
We make our best for every visitor not only to learn something new about the life of the writer, but also to get an idea of people and land he drew his inspiration from.
Everybody who has visited the Upper Don and enjoyed its beauty, attractiveness and hospitality tries to come back here.
We are very glad to have the chance of meeting you because we work for it and we hope that we will meet again. We believe that some day you will come to Veshenskaya in order to see Don, boundless steppe, Cossack small villages and stanitsas, fellow-countrymen of Grigorii and Aksiniya with your own eyes, and to listen to the free Cossack song that floats all over the Don River, making us feel anxious and happy.
